Being a “Foodie” before being a foodie was a thing, Eric Markson has rubbed elbows with legendary Winemakers, great Chefs and the region’s top Hoteliers’ during his extensive career in hospitality.
While working in fine dining as a Restaurant Manager and Maître gaining his Sommelier certification, Eric was hired by the Robert Mondavi Winery in Regional Sales with the mission of promoting that Napa Valley wines that belong with the finest wines in the world on the best tables and in the best restaurants. During his tenure with RMW Eric enjoyed the opportunity of dining with Julia Child and many wonderful events with the Mondavi Family.
Wine Country Chef and author John Ash opened a new restaurant in Santa Rosa and Eric joined the project as Wine director/Sommelier. Crafting a wine list that won The Wine Spectator “Best Award of Excellence” and So. Co. Harvest Fair “Best of Show and Gold Medal”.
Eric has served in leadership roles at Rombauer Vineyards in Napa Valley and recently with the Krug Family hotel group in Sonoma County. He is past Chair for the Board of Directors of the Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce and former Chair/President of the Sonoma County Hospitality Association and a recent highlight was being on the KQED show “Check Please Bay Area” with Leslie Sbrocco.
