Share Your Insights on the Future of Tourism

We invite all Sonoma County Hospitality Association (SCHA) members and stakeholders to participate in a survey that will shape the future of tourism in our region.

What's the Survey About?

This survey is part of an effort by Visit California to develop Regional Tourism Strategic Plans (RTSP) for all 12 regions across the state. The goal is to enhance tourism economies, and your input can play a crucial role in this process. Why Should You Participate?

Your knowledge and experiences can make a significant impact on the direction our region's tourism industry takes. Your perspective matters, and by participating, you help ensure that our region's tourism future aligns with our goals and priorities.

THE PEOPLE

  • 76% of Sonoma County tourism businesses are small (fewer than 25 employees)
  • 91% of tourism businesses are locally owned
  • 40 % have been in business for more than 20 years

  • $1.97 billion was spent by visitors in Sonoma County in 2021
  • $35.9 million was the total Sonoma County Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) receipts in 2020
  • $43 million was the estimated local taxes collected from visitors to Sonoma County in 2020.

THE COMMUNITY

  • 90 % of tourism businesses actively support local charities
  • 20 Tourism Cares events were facilitated by tourism over the past four years
  • $43.9 million annually in cash, in-kind, and volunteer-hour contributions was donated by local hospitality-related businesses
